Hovawarts Old and New
Are we still the same shape? I think not!
When I started learning about the breed all these years ago, I was told breed like Bingo Bluhm and you will not be going far wrong. Believe me I have tried but it's not easy for fashion changes in dogs just like everything else. In Britain alone we have had the good years the small, the hairy, the big and the down right agressive stages!
But I still try to hold to this old type in the Minches breeding programe.

Some have managed to get close, like the Pines 'Irish' Litter, this is Pines Gallway at one year old. Everything as it should be at this age!
Things can go terribly wrong so easily if you don't see where the problems are,
We have had small heads, -
and big heads
Colours gave us a probem too with
Marked Black and odd undercoats
and too many
white feet
Even odder things turn up from time to time but so far not in the UK

Then the really unusual

and the quite common

The dreaded high tail!
As you see, things do not always run smoothly breeding dogs, but these are all non lethal faults, only cosmetic! We can't see the thyroid till its too late, so make sure the breeding stock is tested.
